About
Karissa P. Bjornstad, a 2016 Holmen High School graduate, completed her Bachelors of Science in Public Health and Community Health Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she led group fitness classes at Eupraxia, a nutrition and health club, promoting a whole-food diet to help members achieve a healthier lifestyle. For almost four years, she fostered lifestyle changes in hundreds of men and women throughout the La Crosse area. Karissa was recently awarded the Rotary Global Grant Scholarship to study at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. In the United Kingdom, Karissa is reading for her Masters of Science in Nutrition for Global Health. She believes that the combination of her past and current studies will increase her knowledge and ability to serve mothers and children by providing adequate healthcare services and improving nutritional needs around the world. Outside of academics, Karissa enjoys traveling with her husband Ryan, exercising, hiking, and trying new recipes in the kitchen.
